NCAA says Masoli can’t play this year

The anticipation of seeing quarterback Jeremiah Masoli take a snap in Ole Miss’ season opener against Jacksonville State Saturday turned into dismay Tuesday afternoon as the NCAA denied his waiver to play this season.

The NCAA said in a statement released Tuesday that while Masoli can continue to practice with the team, continue his graduate level studies and receive financial aid, he would not be eligible to play until 2011 because of his dismissal from the team at Oregon. (September 1, 2010, Page 6)
