The second Associated Press Mississippi Prep Polls were officially released yesterday and once again Lafayette found itself atop Class 4A, receiving 14 of 17 first-place votes.Both Oxford and Water Valley were receiving votes last week, but after losing to ranked LHS and Calhoun City respectively, both have fallen out of their respective Class 5A and 3A polls. WHAT YOU’LL FIND IN TODAY’S EAGLE:
—Both Oxford and Lafayette’s Middle Schools were in action on Tuesday, with the Chargers falling to South Panola and the ‘Dores splitting with Charleston.
—Defense was once again the hot topic at Ole Miss’ football practice. With Fon Ingram back on the field, the Rebels are hoping to get a boost in the defensive secondary.
—With regards to Ole Miss’ secondary, senior CB Jeremy McGee gave his opinion of what went wrong against Jacksonville State and sophomore LB D.T. Shackelford talks about how the team needs to learn from the loss and correct its mistakes.
