The uncertainty surrounding Ole Miss’ quarterbacks appears to have been laid to rest — at least for now.
On Sunday, former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli confirmed that he plans to join the Ole Miss football team this fall as a walk on.
“I’m excited to get another chance,” Masoli told Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples on Sunday. “I’m so grateful and thankful.
“I can’t wait to play some SEC ball, to be honest with you.” (August 2, 2010, Page 6)

As an Oregon fan, I spent the past two football seasons cheering on Jeremiah Masoli, who is an exciting quarterback and led our team to many incredible victories. (See Oregon vs Arizona, 2009 and Oregon vs USC, 2009, for example.) I was quite upset when Masoli got in trouble, and even more upset when he had that marijuana in his car. Oregon had to get rid of him.
But all that said, I do wish him well at Ole Miss. The Rebels are my second favorite college team, and I wish you guys the best. You should do something to get your “Dixie” song back. Like get rid of the guy who had it banned. I visited Oxford once and saw that plaque about how the union soldiers burned your whole city to the ground, and it was then that I understood why you folks still fly the confederate flag. Best wishes to y’all. And I hope Masoli behaves himself and helps your team. He is a great football player.
