According to The Blog’s friends at RebelGrove.com and OMSpirit.com Raleigh standout receiver Donte Moncrief committed to the Ole Miss Rebels today.Moncrief, a 6-foot-2, 203-pound receiver, was at Ole Miss’ camp on Saturday and decided today to go ahead and solidify his spot as the Rebels’ eighth commit for the 2011 signing class.
With Pat Patterson being dismissed from the team recently, and the Rebels graduating Markeith Summers and Lionel Breaux following this season, receiver is a top priority for the 2011 signing class and Moncrief is a good start.
In addition to Summers and Breaux, Ole Miss’ receiving corps will lean on youngsters Ja-Mes Logan, Jesse Grandy, Melvin Harris and Vincent Sanders this season.
While Moncrief won’t be able to help Ole Miss with it’s depth at receiver this season, his addition to the roster will go a long way over the long-run. Ole Miss is also said to be near the top of several other prospects lists including Madison Central’s Tobias Singleton, South Panola’s Nickalos Brassell, Gadsden City, Ala.’s T.J. Worthy and Forrest’s Josh Pinkston.
According to Rivals.com, Moncrief chose Ole Miss over offers from Memphis, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, UAB and UCLA.
OTHER COMMITS: With Moncrief’s commitment, the Rebels’ list is now at eight, including: S Chief Brown, LB Sederius Bryant, OL Mitch Hall, DB Gerrod Holliman, C Ethan Hutson, DB Andrew Johnson and S Cody Prewitt. (July 18, 2010)
