Patterson dismissed from Rebels

Ole Miss sophomore receiver Pat Patterson has been dismissed from the football program.

Head coach Houston Nutt confirmed Patterson’s release tonight via text message, adding that an official release would be coming.

As a freshman, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound receiver made 12 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown.

This is not the first time that the former Noxubee County standout has been in trouble with the team.

During the season, Patterson was suspended for the UAB game, and then again for Spring practices for violating team rules.

With Patterson’s release, the Rebels now have just four receivers on their roster (seniors Markeith Summers and Lionel Breaux, redshirt-sophomore Melvin Harris and sophomore Jesse Grandy) with game experience.

Fellow Noxubee County standout Vincent Sanders and speedster Q. Mireles are expected to join the team as part of the 2010 signing class.

Patterson’s dismissal was first reported by RebelGrove.com’s Brandon Lockhart. (July 6, 2010)
