Blake’s visit makes an impression

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — The tennis enthusiasts of Oxford, which there are many, have checked out my assistant’s blog about tennis pro James Blake practicing at Ole Miss’ Palmer-Salloum Tennis Center. I know this because my mother-in-law, Sue Ellen Elmore, is a huge tennis fan while several of her friends play tennis on a weekly or even daily basis. Blake making an appearance was a lot of fun for them, and the small amount of Oxford residents that were able to get a glimpse of the pro, who was ranked No. 4 in the world at one time.

Blake was in town this past weekend to attend the wedding of groom Adam Swope and bride Allie Sparks. The wedding took place at the chapel on campus and the Unviersity Club was the site of the reception. The reason I found out about Blake coming through Oxford was due to Claire Kiamie, the wedding’s coordinator. Claire works for One Fine Day Event and the company’s website is Check her out if you need some wedding help.

If the last name Kiamie catches your eye, sweet Claire is married to former Ole Miss football long snapper and Oxford High multi-sport standout A.J. Kiamie. Claire and A.J. are both good friends and knowing how organized Claire is, I’m sure she can coordinate a wedding like nobody’s business. I appreciate her news tip on this for sure. (July 18, 2010)
