Ole Miss Theatre at The University of Mississippi presents the world premiere of “The Rising Son: a story piece” written, designed and performed by Theatre Arts Associate Professor Dex Edwards. This production marks the first in the 2010-2011 Season and will run Thursday, Aug. 26, 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Meek Hall Auditorium on the Ole Miss Campus.
A performance piece that according to Edwards is part “documentary-comedy,” part “dramatic-travelogue,” part personal memoir. Edwards, an Ole Miss Theatre Alumni, returned to The University in 1997 as head of Theatre Design, while continuing his work as a prolific professional theatre designer and director. The Rising Son is the first in a trilogy of performance pieces that could be described as the theatre’s version of “string theory” – the incredibly strong and undetectable connections between everyone and everything that is the actual substance of our lives – wrapped up in the comical story of the making of world’s largest baseball!
Tickets for all performances are $10.50 for general admission $8.50 for seniors and children. Ole Miss students received a discount at $7. Seating is limited and tickets can be reserved by calling The University Box Office at 662-915-7411. Tickets can be obtained by visiting the Student Union location Monday - Friday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
