St. John’s bounces Rebels from NCAAs

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — With the season on the line, No. 24 Ole Miss scored 16 runs against St. John’s in the elimination game of the Charlottesville Regional on Sunday.
Normally that would have gotten the job done and kept the Diamond Rebels alive in the NCAA Tournament.
The problem, however, was that not only did Ole Miss starter David Goforth and relief pitcher Trent Rothlin combine to surrender eight runs in the first inning, but the Red Storm was able to respond to Ole Miss’ scores throughout the game en route to a 20-16 victory at Davenport Field. (June 7, 2010, Page 1B)
