Saturday’s obituaries

  • Kenneth M. Binkley — died at his home Thursday, June 24, 2010. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. He held a bachelor’s degree in physics and master’s and doctorate degrees in anthropology. He served in the U.S Navy as a pilot. Survivors include his wife, Deborah King Binkley of Abbeville

University High School 2010 grand reunion

This weekend is the seventh grand reunion for the Oxford kids who attended University High School. This includes the classes from 1930 to 1967 who attended high school in the building built in 1929 on University Avenue just before you reach the Hilgard Cut on the University of Mississippi campus. (June 25, 2010, Page 2B)

Go-getters to get help

In hopes to give entrepreneurs a place to go to gain support, knowledge and to do some networking, local business owners are teaming up with the Economic Development Foundation, the Mississippi Technology Alliance and FNC Inc. to form the Lafayette-Oxford-University Alliance. The LOU Alliance will focus on creating mentoring, curriculum, discussions, events, talent matching and funding to help move entrepreneurs from idea to profit. (June 25, 2010, Page 1A)

Panty-raider on prowl

The Oxford Police Department is investigating the theft of women’s lingerie from local female college students.
OPD has recently received four reports of someone entering a residence of four different female college students and taking several items of lingerie.

Princeton grad rides his bike home from school

Peter Dunbar wanted to ride home from school on his bicycle, and he wanted his four friends to join him.
