Oxford’s Fondren named All-American

Three Oxford High athletes helped punctuate another successful season in track and field with a great showing in the New Balance National High School Championship meet held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C., held over the weekend.

High jumper Justin Fondren earned All-American status by leaping 6 feet, 11 inches in the Elite classification. Joining Fondren in North Carolina was pole vaulter Sam Kendricks, who finished second in the Emerging Elite category by recording a vault of 15 feet, 4.25 inches and Lady Charger standout Erika Sisk, who long jumped 17 feet to finish fourth in the Emerging Elite category. (June 22, 2010, Page 6)
