Shiloh Creek nips Cardinals

Thanks to a five-run fourth, Shiloh Creek Land & Timber was able hold on for a 6-3 win over the Carol Dorsey Studio Cardinals in Oxford Park Commission 9-10 year-old softball action Tuesday night.Shiloh pitcher Maci Kirkland picked up the win in the complete-game effort, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out an impressive 11 batters.

Halle Moore and Lauren Dorsey each pitched for the Cardinals.

Emmie McCaffrey led Shiloh at the plate, tallying a double, two RBIs and one run scored in the win, while Taylor Gillespie and Halee Russom had the team’s other singles. Gillespie, Russom, Michaela Spillers, Anna Grace sChandler, Breanna Walls and Emma Wilson all scored one run as well.

For the Cardinals, Ann Fava Peters’ double was the lone extra base hit, while Olivia Rychlak and Taylor Ross each had singles. Peters, Cylie Robertson and Kelsey Wilborn all scored for the Cardinals. (May 18, 2010, Page 10)
