Robbins gets a haircut

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Apparently the Class 3A North Half champion Water Valley Blue Devils aren’t just good on the baseball diamond, they’re pretty good at giving haircuts as well.

Several players gave head coach Doug Robbins a nice shave job Monday night, just a few hours after the Blue Devils got through polishing off Booneville in the 3A title game at Harold T. White Field. Robbins made a pledge to shave his head if his team won the title. The bet stemmed from the start of the playoffs when his team bleached their hair blonde.

WVHS will be back in action against Sumrall (33-1) in the 2010 MHSAA’s Class 3A title series. The first game of the best-of-three series begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Pearl’s Trustmark Park. (May 19, 2010)
