LHS softball doubleheader postponed

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Saturday’s Class 4A playoff doubleheader between the Lafayette Lady Commodores and the Kosciusko Lady Whippets has been postponed until Monday due to the heavy rain and threat of tornados that have hit the North Mississippi area.LHS lost the first game of the best-of-three series 3-1 on Friday at LHS. The Lady Commodores tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a single by Corey Hollis. Kosciusko, which took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third, answered the Lady Commodores with the decisive two runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to three straight hits off LHS starter Stormy Robison.

Monday’s doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. LHS will have to win both games to advance to the second round of the playoffs. (May 1, 2010)
