Rain shortened Saturday’s Class 2, 4 and 6A meets at Pearl High School. The meets were scheduled to resume today at 2.
Lafayette’s girls and boys were competing in the meet Saturday and had some athletes finish before the rains canceled the meet.
All of the field events were completed Saturday with Dominique Price and Steven Williams earning All-State honors for the Commodores while Esmeralda Rodriquez, Manon Mullen and Mariah Buford earned All-State honors for the Lady Commodores.
Price finished second in the shot put with a career best throw of 45 feet, 8 inches. Williams, meanwhile, finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 11-6.
Rodriguez and Mullen both competed in the 3,200 meter run, with Rodriguez finishing fourth with a time of 12 minutes, 43 seconds and Mullen finishing fifth with a 13:04. Buford finished second in the 100 with a personal-best time of 12.53 seconds. Buford also finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 4-10. (May 17, 2010, Page 3B)
