FISHIN’ WITH CHICK — Gail Arrington, long time and much beloved secretary at Lafayette High School, once asked my mother how she was able to raise eight children and spoil each one of them. She did spoil us, but she was not afraid to discipline us. My mother was not the type to use the discipline tactic, “Wait until your father gets home,” because she felt quite capable of handling the task at hand. When my father spoke, he commanded attention throughout our home as well as the entire community of Denmark. (April 16, 2010, Page 9a)
