The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi will be presenting the inaugural Spring Fling Physics Demonstration Show on Thursday from 7–8:30 p.m. in Fulton Chapel. Admission is free. Physics faculty and students will be demonstrating a wide variety of physics principles in entertaining ways. Examples are crushing a 55-gallon steel drum using atmospheric pressure, firing a ping pong ball through several aluminum cans, showing how an electric guitar pickup works, and demonstrating strange fluids which grow fingers when shaken. The last part of the show will allow the audience to view some demonstrations up close in a hands-on fashion. Click here to download the event flyer.
