SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Lafayette defensive coordinator Eric Robertson just got the opportunity to add a new title to add to his resume as he accepted the open position of boys basketball coach today.
Robertson will replace former coach Teague Burchfield on the bench next season after agreeing to add the position to his title on Lafayette’s football team. Burchfield resigned from his position last week after spending two years as the Commodores’ head coach.
Robertson coached the Oxford Middle School boys basketball for two seasons earlier this past decade after serving as the varsity girls basketball coach at Water Valley for three seasons.
The returning players were told of the decision to promote Robertson to his new position today. Plans on the future were still being formulated, but Robertson did say he planned to have an open tryout shortly after the spring football season ended. (April 14, 2010)
