Roberson steps down as OHS baseball coach

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG Bradley Roberson has decided he will not be the head baseball coach at Oxford after this season. Roberson said today that came to the decision over a period of time, rather than anything just recently.

Once he made his decision, he told his players. That meeting came after Wednesday’s practice session at Edwin Moak Field. Roberson just won his 100th game as head coach and is now 101-44 overall in his fifth season.

The Chargers (11-11 overall) recently lost 16-5 to New Hope to fall to 3-4 in District 2-5A play. The Chargers have four regular season games left, but could extend Roberson’s tenure at least one week longer if they were able to defeat Saltillo Friday night and West Point on Tuesday. Both games will both be on the road.

A full story about Roberson’s decision to step away from his role as coach, and thoughts from Oxford Athletics Director Johnny Hill about the future of the program, will be available in Friday’s paper and e-edition. (April 15, 2010)
