Rebels rally to take Game 2

In Game 2 the Ole Miss Rebels rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to defeat the LSU Tigers 9-8 in 11 innings.

Ole Miss starter Aaron Barrett struggled early against LSU, giving up five runs in the first two innings, but was able to bounce back, pitching a scoreless four frames after that.

In the fourth inning Ole Miss tied the game at 5-5 courtesy of a pinch-hit two-run homer by Taylor Hashman, and in the next inning he put the Rebels ahead 8-5 on a three-RBI double that scored Zach Miller, Kevin Mort and Alex Yarbrough.

With relief pitcher Matt Tracy on the mound, LSU came back to tied the game 8-8 in the seventh inning, but four innings later Yarbrough came through with a single up the middle that scored Matt Smith from second base to give Ole Miss the 9-8 victory.

Matt Crouse earned the win for Ole Miss, pitching a scoreless 2.2 innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four.

LSU closer Matty Ott earned the loss, surrendering just one run in 3.2 innings.

The three-game series will conclude on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised on CSS.

Ole Miss sophomore right-hander David Goforth will start for the Rebels. (April 24, 2010)
