Ole Miss’ Thomas drafted by Sparks

Ole Miss senior guard Bianca Thomas is taking her premier jump shot pro. On Thursday, Thomas was selected 12th overall in the 2010 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks.Thomas will join former Ole Miss great Jennifer Gillom, who is the Sparks’ coach.
“It has always been a dream of mine to play in the WNBA and it’s hard to put into words the excitement I am feeling right now,” Thomas said in a statement. “I am so blessed and thankful for the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream.”
Thomas proved to be one of the most prolific scorers in program history, amassing 1,511 career points which is good enough for sixth all-time at Ole Miss.
As a senior, Thomas led the Southeastern Conference in scoring with a 20.9 scoring average and eclipsed the 20-point plateau 19 times.
Her 670 points this past season also ranks fifth all-time in program history.
Thomas is just the third player in school history to average over 20.0 points per game for a season and was named to the All-SEC first team following the season.
The Henderson, Tenn., native is the fifth Lady Rebel to be drafted into the WNBA, and the first since current assistant coach Armintie Price was taken third overall by the Chicago Sky. (April 9, 2010)
