Oxford’s junior varsity tennis team made quick work of Tupelo on Wednesday, defeating the Golden Wave 7-1 to improve to 5-0 on the year.
In girls doubles: Kara Rose and Lynley Love Jones teamed up to blank Margaret Burleson and Carley Carruth 6-0, 6-0, Abby Daniels and Embrey Inman defeated Lauren Bell and Ashley Williams 7-5, 6-2, Katie Krouse and Cari Hansen defeated Anna Claire Reed and Aubrey Rebentisch 6-2, 4-6 (10-2) and the duo of Eliza Williams and Madison Cobb downed Addie Reynolds and Abbie Banko 6-2, 7-5.
In boys doubles: Quinn Elliott and Arlis Williams won a hard-fought match against Austin Pillow and Will Otis 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), Reed Heckel and Collier Phillips defeated Davis Roy and Eli Davis 6-2, 6-3 and the combination of Thien Che and Joseph McQueen knocked off Walker Hannah and Drew Ballard 6-3, 6-2.
Oxford’s lone loss came in the final boys doubles match, where Matt Forgette and Kevin Davidson fell to Brenton Banko and Jacob Campeau 6-2, 6-4. (April 8, 2010, Page 8)
