New road construction ahead

Several road projects that have been in the works can now move forward with construction bids after the Board of Aldermen approved the request from city engineers on Tuesday. Along with the projects, several roads in town will begin construction shortly.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has authorized the expenditure of $1.2 million in federal stimulus dollars to fund milling and overlay work in the city of Oxford.
The bid was approved for Lehman-Roberts Company to mill and overlay multiple Oxford streets, including: Jackson Avenue, from west of Oxford Mall to east of Rebel Drive; Old Taylor Road, from University Place to South Lamar; Old Taylor Road, from Kitchen Aid to Bickerstaff and Belk Drive, from Medical Park to Burney Branch.
