Lafayette softballers lay the hurt on Byhalia

Lafayette High’s softball team scored early and often in its 23-1 win over District 2-4 foe Byhalia Tuesday night.
The Lady Commodores jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and then scored 14 runs in the second to take command. LHS finished with 23 hits overall in the game and benefited from six Byhalia errors.

Katrina Wilson led the Lady Commodores at the plate by collecting a double, triple and a home run. Other players who collected multiple hits in the win included Mary Catherine Pate, Stormy Robison, Corey Hollis, Kelsey Kesler, Rae Drewrey, Cameron Mize and Toinella Marion. Pate, Robison, Hollis, Kesler and Mize each had a double, while Hollis added a triple. Robison earned the victory for LHS and she limited Byhalia to just two hits in the process. LHS will play its final regular season game at home Thursday at 6 p.m. against Byhalia. (April 21, 2010, Page 9)
