Here’s a brief scouting report on No. 26 Kentucky in addition to today’s preview featuring senior outfielder Taylor Hashman:
The No. 26 Kentucky Wildcats (14-3 overall) enter this weekend’s series having won seven of their last nine games. As a team, Kentucky is hitting .306, with outfielder Keenan Wiley’s .390 batting average leading the team. Seven players have also hit more than two home runs and are led by infielder Andy Burns’ four homers.
On the mound, the cats are expected to use junior left-hander Logan Darnell (3-0, 1.80) on Friday, freshman left-hander Taylor Rogers (3-0, 4.30 ERA) on Saturday and sophomore right-hander Alex Meyer (3-2, 7.29 ERA) on Sunday.
LOOKING AT THE SERIES: Kentucky trails the all-time series 36-25 and holds a 17-13 lead in games played in Lexington. Ole Miss swept the three-game series last year in Oxford, outscoring the Wildcats 22-6, but has not won a series in Lexington since the 2002 season. Ole Miss swept Kentucky in ‘02.
