SPORTS EDITOR’S BLOG — I got to say that I was a little disappointed that there was nothing in today’s Daily News about tonight’s NIT games. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been here for this event before and know that it’s not a huge deal compared to the way we cover college sports, but there wasn’t even a story about it in the tabloid I consider the best in the city today.
Today’s biggest story, a least from a college basketball standpoint, was former UCLA coach Steve Lavin about to finalize a deal to become the new coach at St. John’s, which happened this afternoon, as well as a column on West Virginia’s Bob Huggins. Both stories were good, but I still think you need a little about the NIT in the paper other than the schedule and times.
Maybe the teams will get a little more love in Wednesday’s paper, including the Rebels. (March 30, 2010)
