Lafayette Middle School earns first round bye

The Lafayette Middle School baseball team (9-2-1) earned a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs by sweeping Marshall Academy 10-2 and 8-3 in a doubleheader yesterday.
Earning complete game wins for LMS were Eli Murphree (3-1) in Game 1 and Cody Allen (1-0) in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Commodores tallied seven runs in the first two innings and cruised to victory. In the second game, LMS mounted a 4-0 lead in the first and was able to hold on for victory.
Leading the offense on the day was Ryan Holland, Austin Arrington, D.K. Buford, Murphree, Jake McPhail, Drew Davis, Josh Keel and Tyler Smith, who all had at least one hit and one RBI. (March 31, 2010, Page 10)
