Faculty soloists Bradley Robinson, baritone, and Jennifer Robinson, soprano, will join the L-O-U Symphony in a selection of opera arias and duets from at 8 p.m. March 10 in the Gertrude Ford Performing Arts Center.
Solo selections include “Avant de quitter ces lieux” from Charles Gounod’s opera, Faust; “Una voce poco fa” from Gioacchino Rossini’s Barber of Seville. The duet selections include “La ci darem la mano” from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and “Pronta io son” from Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.
The program also opens with Giuseppi Verdi’s “The Force of Destiny” Overture, and includes three 20th century works. The orchestra will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the American composer, Samuel Barber, with a performance of his “Adagio for Strings,” and will also perform the St. Paul Suite by the English composer Gustav Holst. The concert will conclude with a suite from the ballet, El Amor Brujo by the eminent Spanish composer, Manuel de Falla.
