Those who have been clamoring for David Goforth to get a stab at starting for the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels baseball team are about to get their wish.
For the first time since he was a flame-thrower at Neshoba Central High in Philadelphia, Goforth will be a starting pitcher — even if it is on a trial basis.
Prior to Monday’s practice at Oxford-University Stadium, Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco confirmed that the sophomore right-hander will get his shot at the starting role tonight against Mississippi State (14-10 overall, 2-4 SEC) tonight in Pearl in the annual Governor’s Cup game at 6:30.
