A former teacher, Mary Luster-Johnson, won her case against HeadStart and was awarded $750,000 by a local jury Friday. Luster-Johnson claimed she was fired for complaining about the director’s misuse of funds. Luster-Johnson, formerly second-in-command of the Oxford center, sued the Institute of Community Services Inc. of Holly Springs, which operates the HeadStart schools in Oxford and Holly Springs.
