The Lafayette Commodores middle school baseball squad was able to take a crosstown double-dip from the Oxford Chargers Monday, winning 5-1 and 7-5 at Edwin Moak Field.
Austin Arrington picked up the win for LHS (7-2-1 overall) in Game 1, allowing one run in 5.0 innings on one hit while striking out three. John Murphree led the Commodores’ offense with a single, double, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Jake McPhail, Ryan Holland and Cody Allen also scored.
In Game 2, T.J. Hollis (1-0) picked up the complete game win, allowing three earned runs on six scattered hits in 4.0 innings.
Tyler Smith led Lafayette at the plate with a two-run double, while Josh Keel tallied an RBI single. Allen also had a single in the game.
Lafayette returns to the diamond today, playing hosting Marshall Academy at 5 and 7 p.m. (March 30, 2010, Page 9)
