Carrie Jerrell will read from her debut collection at 6 p.m. Friday at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center. Refreshments and a book signing will follow.
Jerrell's debut collection, "After the Revivial," received the 2008 Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize from Waywiser Press. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Measure, Image, Subtropics, The Yalobusha Review and elsewhere. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Texas Tech University, she is currently assistant professor of English at Murray State University, in Murray, Ky., and serves as poetry editor for Iron Horse Literary Review. During the summer, she works as the director of the Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference and on the staff of the Sewanee Writers' Conference.
