- Willie C. Gater — 74, a former resident of Oxford, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cypress Grove M.B. Church in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Cypress Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Byas Funeral Home Inc. of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
- Euphus Edward “Ned” Murray — 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010. The graveside service will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Waller Funeral Home.
