Wednesday, March 10, 11:30 a.m. at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The program will feature Giuseppe Verdi's "Overture to Les Vespres Sciliennes," Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" and Don Freund's "Three Preludes." Admission is free to area school children. Part of a series of orchestra concerts especially for students in elementary grades. The programs, under the direction of Ronald Vernon, featuring faculty and advanced student performers, are drawn from the Music Department's regular-season programming, but with special introductions and commentary designed to help young people understand and appreciate the music.
