Area nonprofits get federal funds

Local charities trying to meet the needs of growing ranks of homeless and hungry people in the community will get some financial assistance through the federal Emergency Food and Shelter program. U.S. Rep. Travis Childers announced recently that four local organizations will receive $23,603. (January 11, 2010, Page 1)
